Tattooing Program

Environmental Health Program of Jackson County

The Tattoo Program is a newly regulated program that was implemented by the Department of Health in 2012. The program requires the licensure of tattoo artists and tattoo establishments and sets forth educational requirements and the standards of practice for conventional and cosmetic tattoo artists, as well as operational requirements for tattoo establishments. It is also designed to protect the public from the risks associated with potentially infectious biomedical waste.

The governing authority for this program is Florida Statute 381.00771-381.00791 and Florida Administrative Code 64E-28.

Annual Inspections

Annual Licenses and Permits are required to be purchased by tattoo artists, guest tattoo artists, and the tattoo establishment itself.

For detailed requirements of licensing and permitting, refer to the Florida Administrative Code 64E-28 and to the Florida Department of Health’s Tattoo Program website.
