Biomedical Waste

Environmental Health Program of Jackson County

Environmental Health regulates and inspects Biomedical Waste Generators to assure proper management, segregation, labeling, storage and treatment of biomedical waste.

Staff ensure that the waste is properly handled to eliminate exposure to employees, patients and the public to disease causing agents.

Examples of biomedical waste generators include hospitals, clinics, blood banks, dental offices, surgical clinics, medical buildings, physicians' offices, laboratories, emergency medical services, veterinary clinics, funeral homes and home health agencies.

Coordinator of this program is Jason Hamilton.
